Digital communication is unique as it allows one-to-one communications with customers, that can then be measured and analyzed. To achieve this type of direct connection, customer knowledge – also known as “first-party data” – is essential. As attractive as it is, we should not forget that these data are as sensitive as they are powerful and should be handled carefully. Overusing them or underusing them will inevitably diminish their potential.
